Lyon Nantes prediction 2022-05-14

Lyon vs Nantes prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2022-05-13 22:00.
Lyon enter the penultimate game of a rather forgettable league season after seeing their European aspirations all but end when losing 3-2 to Metz last time out. The side starting the round in eighth are now aiming to avoid finishing outside Ligue 1’s top seven spots for the first time since 1995/96. That isn’t to say Lyon’s run-in hasn’t been entertaining though, with all but one of their last seven league matches seeing both teams find the net.

In fact the faithful at the Groupama Stadium will greet ‘Les Gones’ for the last time this campaign on the back of watching their team secure three successive home Ligue 1 victories, with Lyon impressively scoring in every half during that run. Their red hot scoring form couples well with a visit from Nantes too, as Lyon have lost only one of the last 19 home league H2Hs (W15, D3).

But ninth-placed Nantes will travel with confidence after following up their Coupe de France success with a 2-1 win at home to Rennes in midweek. That cup final win secured Europa League football for the very first time, but while we now may see motivation for the remainder of the season begin to wane with only pride left to play for, Nantes’ come-from-behind victory at Rennes does suggest the visitors are keen to finish strongly.

The ‘Canaries’ will likely be glad this is the last time they hit the road this campaign though as they’ve won half the amount of points away than they have at home (36 at home vs 18 away). An unlikely victory here would mean Nantes leapfrog Lyon into eighth place, putting them on track for only their second top-eight finish in Ligue 1 since 2003/04.

Players to watch: Lyon’s Moussa DembĂ©lĂ© has thrived following his promotion to captain recently, scoring nine goals in his last seven league appearances. Meanwhile, Nantes’ Ludovic Blas has scored the match opener in five of his last six goalscoring outings, including the cup final last weekend.

Hot stat: Only Rennes (15) have scored more goals between minutes 46-60 than Nantes this season (11).
