Monaco Brest prediction 2022-05-14

Monaco vs Brest prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2022-05-13 22:00.
Ahead of this penultimate round of Ligue 1 fixtures, Monaco are the league’s form team across the last ten games (W9, L1). Eight successive wins coming into this clash has been the bedrock of Monaco’s success and a ‘Monégasques’ victory here is a must if they are to reel in Marseille in second place, whilst also trying to stem the advances of Rennes to hold onto the last Champions League place. Ironically Rennes and Marseille square off on Saturday, perhaps heaping more importance on three points here for Monaco.

A repeat of Monaco’s 2-0 defeat to Brest in the reverse would be catastrophic to their top-two push, but with back-to-back home H2H wins by a 2+ goal margin, Philippe Clement’s side seemingly hold the aces here. In fact, since mid-September only Reims have left the Stade Louis II with three Ligue 1 points (W11, D3, L1), whilst five of Monaco’s last six home league wins have also been accompanied by a clean sheet.

While on the face of it Brest’s season may appear to be over, Michel Der Zakarian’s side are still battling to secure a top-half Ligue 1 finish for the first time since 1990/91. Three straight recent wins brought them in contention to do just that, but a 1-0 defeat against Strasbourg last time out now makes their task much harder.

The door is still swinging gently ajar for Brest though, with their nearest top-half challengers Lille and Nantes both facing tricky away games against sides above them too. Any hopes of capitalising hinges on Brest arresting a win/loss alternating run away from home, and with their last road trip seeing them victorious, history would indicate they will be brought firmly back down to earth at Monaco.

Players to watch: Monaco’s Wissam Ben Yedder has opened the scoring in four of his last six goalscoring appearances, whilst the returning Franck Honorat has scored the decisive goal in two of Brest’s last three away league wins.

Hot stat: No Ligue 1 side has trailed at the break in more away league games this season than Brest’s ten.
