Germany W Austria W prediction 2022-07-21

Germany W vs Austria W prediction: EUROPE: Euro Women – Play Offs betting tips on match 2022-07-20 19:00.
Eight-time women’s Euro champions Germany look well placed to take another step towards regaining their crown having breezed through Group B with a 100% record. With nine goals scored, and none conceded, Germany boast an impeccable record so far, and ought to be confident of dispatching Austria and avoid falling at the quarter-final stage for the second successive Euro championships.

Martina Voss-Tecklenburg’s side boast an unbeaten record against their Austrian counterparts (W2), with both wins coming by exactly a two-goal margin. However, Germany’s current run of four international clean sheets could come under threat, as neither of those victories were accompanied by a clean sheet.

The only blotch on Austria’s record so far came in their Euro 2022 curtain raiser against England (L 1-0), which given England’s 13 goals in two games since, is by no means a poor result. Successive victories ‘to nil’ after that defeat underpins Austria’s defensive resilience, though a much sterner test awaits here considering the last time Austria defeated a current top-ten FIFA ranked UEFA nation was at the 2017 edition of this competition – a penalty shootout victory over Spain.

That 2017 campaign also saw Austria fall at the semi-final stage, but they appear to have an uphill battle to reach the last four again this year. Don’t write them off though, having already dumped out two-time Euro winners Norway in the group stage, the underdog tag is often carried well by Irene Fuhrmann’s side.

Players to watch: Germany’s Alexandra Popp likes to have the final say on proceedings, netting the game’s last goal in two of Germany’s three group stage games. German fans will know Austria and Hoffenheim’s Nicole Billa well, she won the Women's Footballer of the Year award in Germany in 2021!

Hot stat: Five of Germany’s last six internationals have seen more goals during the second half than the first.
