Dortmund Bayer Leverkusen prediction 2022-08-06

Dortmund vs Bayer Leverkusen prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2022-08-05 16:30.
Five-time Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund begin their latest attempt to dethrone rivals Bayern Munich but without star striker Erling Haaland, who headed to Manchester City in the summer. They used the money from his sale to sign Karim Adeyemi and SĂ©bastien Haller (out for several months due to tumour surgery) – the former was on target as they opened their season with a 3-0 DFB Pokal win over 1860 Munich – and they strengthened defensively too by signing Niklas SĂĽle and Nico Schlotterbeck.

Having not drawn a home league game since February 2021 (W19, L5) another result either way seems likely against Bayer Leverkusen, particularly as there’s been no draw in any of the last nine H2Hs anywhere (W6, L3). Both meetings last term produced seven goals (W1, L1) and with Dortmund manager Edin Terzić pledging to try to “thrill our fans in every game,” more could follow.

Although Leverkusen finished behind Dortmund in third place last term, they’ve started 2022/23 poorly, wasting several chances before losing their cup clash 4-3 to newly-promoted third division outfit Elversberg. That followed a quiet summer in which they only brought in striker Adam Hložek from Sparta Prague, although they’re undefeated in each of their last three league openers (W1, D2).

The last two of those were played away from home, and they’ll have happy memories of a 5-2 win here in February so another road game could be what’s needed to launch their season. It’s worth noting then that only Bayern bettered Leverkusen’s league away record last term (W9, D5, L3).

Players to watch: Fast-starting Adeyemi (DOR) has netted his last four competitive club goals before the 40th minute, and although Patrik Schick (LEV) scored once against Dortmund last term just before the break, three of his previous four competitive strikes came after the 50th minute.

Hot stat: There’s been an average of 5.33 goals per game across the last six H2Hs that Dortmund have hosted.
