Hull Norwich prediction 2022-08-13

Hull vs Norwich prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2022-08-12 14:00.
Hull are hoping to bounce back from a disappointing EFL Cup defeat at Bradford as they return to Championship action by hosting one of the favourites for promotion, Norwich. The Tigers have an impressive H2H record against City, losing to them just once at the MKM Arena (W3, D3) since it opened back in 2003.

Shota Arveladze’s side have had a decent start to the league season, beating Bristol City 2-1 on the opening weekend before drawing 0-0 at Preston. The manager rested a number of key players at Valley Parade in a midweek cup loss though, many of whom will return as they look to extend an unbeaten run of four home matches (W3, D1), with each win containing in excess of three goals.

Relegated from the top flight last season, Norwich are now on a run of nine league games without a win (D2, L7) after starting the season poorly with just one point from their opening two matches. That came through a 1-1 draw at home to Wigan seven days ago in a match that saw them lose Dimi Giannoulis for eight weeks due to an injury, but a 1-0 defeat to Cardiff in their first outing of the season means they have kept just one clean sheet in their last ten away fixtures.

Now looking to avoid back-to-back Championship away defeats for the first time since December 2017, boss Dean Smith – who masterminded Aston Villa’s promotion to the Premier League in 2019 – will have to overcome a poor all-time record against Hull (D2, L2) to avoid Norwich starting the season in a similar fashion to 2018/19, when they failed to win over the first three Championship games, albeit they were eventually promoted as champions.

Players to watch: Jean Michaël Seri netted in Hull’s opening game, meaning six of his last seven club goals have come on home soil. Meanwhile Norwich striker Teemu Pukki has never lost in two previous meetings with Hull (W1, D1) and netted 14 times away from home in the Championship in 2020/21.

Hot streak: The away team on the day has only won this fixture twice in 18 matches since 1972.
