Liverpool Crystal Palace prediction 2022-08-15

Liverpool vs Crystal Palace prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2022-08-14 19:00.
Despite their disappointment at being pipped to the Premier League (PL) title, Liverpool would’ve been keen to carry the momentum of last season forward, but their 2-2 with Fulham represented a far from ideal start. Twice fighting back to salvage a point meant Liverpool have conceded first in their last five PL matches, taking their points earned from losing positions under manager Jürgen Klopp to 115, the most in the league since he took over.

The Reds now head back to Anfield where they produced the best home PL record last season, going undefeated in all 19 matches (W15, D4) while conceding only nine goals. Anfield is known as a fortress on any occasion, but it becomes even more daunting when you throw in the fact Liverpool have won their first home league match in each of the last nine seasons.

Having hosted the first game of this PL season, Crystal Palace got off to a bad start by losing 2-0 to Arsenal, making them one of five teams who failed to trouble the scoreboard across the opening weekend. Things don’t get easier for Palace going forward either, with champions Manchester City lying in wait later this month, but finding a first PL point of the season here looks just as tricky as Palace have conceded at least twice in nine consecutive H2Hs.

The Eagles swoop in on Anfield exactly 30 years after the first ever PL games were played, which saw Palace draw 3-3 against Blackburn. They’d probably take a similar result here if offered, particularly considering they’ve lost the last ten H2Hs while failing to score in six of those.

Players to watch: Darwin Núñez will grace Anfield for the first time as a Liverpool player after a goal and an assist in his PL debut – he’s scored nine of his last 12 club goals after half-time. Palace’s Odsonne Edouard’s last goal came against Liverpool, and he’s netted his side’s opener in his last three goalscoring appearances.

Hot stat: Liverpool won by a 2+ goal margin in 13 of their 15 home PL wins last season, a league-high.
