QPR Rotherham prediction 2022-08-20

QPR vs Rotherham prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2022-08-19 14:00.
It’s been a week of contrasts for Queens Park Rangers who after seeing Seny Dieng become the club’s first ever keeper to score a goal in their come-from-behind 2-2 draw at Sunderland, fell to a 1-0 defeat against Blackpool in midweek, denying manager Mick Beale a chance to post wins in his first two home league games. An underwhelming start to the Championship season (W1, D1, L2) now requires immediate attention as the Rs look to end an eight-campaign top-flight absence.

Recent form at Loftus Road hasn't helped matters with alternating results across the last five home league games (W2, L3) hampering QPR. Both the wins saw their opponents reduced to ten men, but the 3-2 triumph over Middlesbrough on matchday two saw the Rs stumble over the line despite taking a 3-0 lead, failing to kill the game when on top, so they’ll be looking to be more ruthless here.

In what was supposedly set to be nothing more than a survival bid, newcomers Rotherham are flying after an unbeaten start (W1, D2) following a dogged goalless draw against Preston North End. With just one goal conceded this campaign, it's their defence leading the charge and the Millers will travel with renewed hopes of clinching what would be only a second-ever H2H league clean sheet since 1983.

London trips aren't usually top of Rotherham's agenda however, having won just one of their last 16 away Championship trips to the capital (D4, L11) – although that victory came against QPR in 2019! Repeating that trick may require the visitors to find their goalscoring boots as they’ve failed to score in six of their last seven away Championship matches, which somewhat overshadowed the three clean sheets also kept during that run.

Players to watch: Chris Willock scored his last two Championship goals in home matches but witnessed QPR concede twice in both games. Rotherham's hopes of scoring may circle around Dan Barlaser, who set up three of their last four league goals.

Hot stat: The last five league H2Hs have averaged 4.40 goals per game with both teams scoring in each match.
