Fulham vs Brentford prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2022-08-19 14:00.
The intensity shown by Fulham in their Premier League (PL) opener against Liverpool just wasn’t there last time out against Wolves, but manager Marco Silva and the fans will still have been relatively pleased with the result, despite a late penalty miss. It’s been a good start for Fulham on their return to the top flight and they now have the chance to go the first three games of a top-flight campaign without experiencing defeat for just the second time this century. That was back in 2010/11 when they drew all three games!
If they can show anything like the performance and desire for the rest of the campaign that they displayed in that match against Liverpool, the Craven Cottage faithful are in for an enjoyable season and a very different one compared to when they were last at this level, when they recorded just two home wins. In fact any goal here for Fulham – in their first ever top-flight meeting with Brentford – would mean they’ve already produced a third of the home goals they managed in their last PL campaign in 2020/21, and with nine of their last 12 home fixtures producing over 2.5 goals, you wouldn’t write them off.
Brentford will be coming off the highest of highs after an incredible 4-0 thumping of Manchester United last weekend, a result that marked their biggest top-flight win since 1938 and which left boss Thomas Frank “speechless”. It means they too have started the campaign undefeated (W1, D1) and they’ll now look to repeat last season’s three-game unbeaten start. They should be in the mood to do that, especially as they’ve won eight of their last 13 PL matches (D2, L3), scoring 2+ goals in nine of those.
The Bees picked up six wins on their league travels last season, ending with three wins in their last four including a big 4-1 success at Fulham’s west London rivals, Chelsea. They are actually unbeaten (W2, D1) in their last three London derbies (any venue) whilst their record of one loss in their 19 trips to Craven Cottage (W8, D10) should mean they’ll fancy their chances here.
Players to watch: Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrović will be glad to return to Craven Cottage where six of his last seven league goals have been scored, as he looks to bounce back from his penalty miss against Wolves. Josh Dasilva is off to a flyer with two goals this season – nine of his last 12 goals for Brentford have come after half-time.
Hot streak: Fulham have failed to win any of their last 24 PL London derbies (D5, L19).
