Angers Brest prediction 2022-08-21

Angers vs Brest prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2022-08-20 13:00.
After two rounds of Ligue 1 action, half of the league remains winless, with both Angers and Brest falling into that category. Angers come into this clash with an unbeaten record to preserve (D2), though there is an element of fortune to that, with Le Sco battling back from 2-0 down to secure a point in their last outing against a ten-man Auxerre (2-2).

With just four Ligue 1 wins to their name in 2022 (D6, L11), Angers seemingly have their work cut out if they are to break into the top half of Ligue 1 for the first time since 2019/20. A game against Brest could be a good starting point to kick-start their season having won five of the last eight Ligue 1 H2Hs (D2, L1), but conceding first in three of the previous four H2Hs at the Raymond Kopa Stadium indicates Angers’ battling qualities may be tested again.

Brest demonstrated a strong jaw of their own in their last Ligue 1 outing against Marseille, fighting back from a goal down to secure a 1-1 draw. Boss Michel Der Zakarian will be all too aware his side can’t continue to fall behind in games, but it’s a habit that they can’t seem to shake, with only two Ligue 1 sides conceding more opening goals than their 22 last season.

Just three of those 22 occasions ended in eventual victory (D5, L14), and wins have been few and far between for the Pirates of late too, with none across their last five Ligue 1 games (D1, L4). Der Zakarian’s indifferent record against Angers (W7, D8, L9) doesn’t instil much belief of ending that run, with his only personal league win on Angers’ turf coming way back in December 2011.

Players to watch: Young Angers forward Amine Salama came off the bench to snatch a late equaliser against Auxerre, his first-ever professional goal. Meanwhile, Brest’s Pierre Lees-Melou has had a hand in four goals against Angers in Ligue 1 (G2, A2).

Hot stat: Brest have scored in seven of their last eight Ligue 1 away games, albeit the one exception was against Angers back in March!
