Nantes Toulouse prediction 2022-08-28

Nantes vs Toulouse prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2022-08-27 11:00.
Three winless games to start the Ligue 1 season (D2, L1) is far from an ideal opening for Nantes and extended their poor run to six competitive games without a win. Coach Antoine KombouarĂ© was clearly frustrated after last weekend’s 2-1 loss to Marseille, saying the result left a ‘bitter sweet taste’ after their plan to frustrate the home side nearly worked. A visit here from Toulouse could help dissipate the frustration, considering Nantes have won the last three Ligue 1 home games against them, although any success would mark their first four-match winning streak in top-flight history on home soil against the side from the ‘Pink City’.

That’s one small piece of history on the line for cup holders Nantes, but there’s also potential for a piece of unwanted history should Nantes fail to win again. Two winless games to end the last Ligue 1 campaign (D1, L1) coupled with their slow start to this season could now see Nantes go six-successive games without a win in the top-flight under the stewardship of KombouarĂ© for the first time!

If Nantes are on a downer coming into this fixture, then Toulouse almost certainly aren’t, putting together a three-match unbeaten run (W1, D2) to announce their return to Ligue 1. Interestingly, that sole win so far came on the road, but boss Philippe Montanier will be under no illusions that one win doesn’t guarantee the next as prior to that away victory, Toulouse were winless in 23 (D6, L17) away Ligue 1 games!

Another away loss perhaps wouldn’t be catastrophic to Toulouse’s survival bid, but it would see TĂ©fĂ©cĂ© miss the chance to open a Ligue 1 campaign with four unbeaten matches for the first time since 2012/13. Montanier may fancy his chances of overseeing Toulouse to a landmark result though, considering he is unbeaten in his last 11 personal away games in the French top-flight (W6, D5).

Players to watch: Nantes’ Moses Simon has seen four of his last five club goals arrive before half-time, whilst Toulouse’s Thijs Dallinga has fired his side ahead in both their draws so far this season.

Hot streak: Nantes have conceded exactly once in five of their last six Ligue 1 home games.
