Celta Vigo Cadiz CF prediction 2022-09-02

Celta Vigo vs Cadiz CF prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2022-09-01 19:00.
After notching a morale boosting first league win of the season against Girona last time out (1-0), Celta Vigo return to Galicia hoping to pick up a first home league win of the campaign at the third time of asking (D1, L1). Given that Celta ran out winners in four of their last five home H2H encounters with Cádiz (L1), this seems like the perfect opportunity to get up and running at the Estadio de Balaídos.

Currently three points better off than at this stage of last season, Celta’s hopes of challenging for just a second top-half finish since 2015/16 are certainly feasible after finishing just one point shy of that accolade last term. Improving their form here may be key to that aim, with Cádiz being the only current top-flight side to pick up fewer home points than Celta’s 26 (W7, D5, L9) since the start of last season!

A new season has brought little change for perennial strugglers Cádiz, who took their survival fight to the final day last term and have now made their first three-game losing start in the top-flight since 1988/89! Cádiz did draw their fourth game and survive in that season, and even had to wait until round five to win last term, so a slow start is not necessarily fatal in their bid to avoid relegation.

As one of just three sides to pick up more points away than at home last season on the back of a league-low 18 point home return, an away game could prove to be the catalyst for a Cádiz revival. Those hopes should also be boosted by boss Sergio González’s seven-game unbeaten run in personal H2Hs against Celta, though six of those resulted in draws (W1) indicating the margins might be tight here.

Players to watch: Iago Aspas has scored three of Celta’s four league goals this term and all three strikes were team openers, while Cádiz have not scored in 284 minutes of play since Choco Lozano’s winner at Alavés last term. He’s also scored in their only two wins since April.

Hot stat: Cádiz are the only La Liga side to have trailed at half-time in all their league games this season.
