Stuttgart Schalke prediction 2022-09-03

Stuttgart vs Schalke prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2022-09-02 13:30.
Following a four-game winless start to this Bundesliga campaign (D3, L1), Stuttgart seem destined for yet another relegation battle. One positive for Stuttgart is that they didn’t concede the opener for the first time this league season as they drew 0-0 with Cologne last time out, yet they ended up receiving two red cards in that game, including one for manager Pellegrino Matarazzo!

The other red was for forward Luca Pfeiffer, who picked up his third career red card in just his third appearance for Stuttgart! That means Die Roten now have more dismissals than any other side in German top-flight history with 143, and with a depleted squad both on the pitch and the touchline, Stuttgart may find it hard to build on their three games unbeaten across their last four home fixtures (W1, D2) as they take on a Schalke side who they have lost four of their previous five home H2Hs against.

Another H2H win for the visitors would be a big result for last season’s 2.Bundesliga winners as Schalke are one of the other four winless Bundesliga sides ahead of this round (D2, L2), somewhat laying bare the gulf in class between the top two tiers. Boss Frank Kramer may be quietly confident of kick-starting his side’s season here though, after winning all three of his personal away H2Hs with Stuttgart ‘to nil’.

Schalke were also the strongest travelling side in the second-tier last season (W10, D3, L4), finishing their promotion charge with a five-game winning flourish on their travels. A return to that sort of form would be welcomed with Schalke having to do some soul searching after suffering the heaviest Bundesliga defeat of round 4 (6-1 vs Union), a result that may have brought back memories of their last Bundesliga campaign (2020/21) when they were relegated with one of the worst defeat (24) and goals conceded tallies (86) that the league has ever seen.

Players to watch: With Saša Kalajdžić on his way to Wolves, Stuttgart may look to Silas for goals, but he has failed to win four of his last five scoring appearances (D2, L2). As for Schalke, Marius Bülter has scored in three of their four Bundesliga games this term, including twice from the penalty spot.

Hot streak: Schalke are winless in 30 consecutive Bundesliga away games (D9, L21).
