Wolfsburg vs FC Koln prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2022-09-02 13:30.
Winless Wolfsburg have started their Bundesliga campaign alternating between draws and defeats (D2, L2) with Saturday’s 2-0 loss to RB Leipzig their fourth league game in five which saw them concede exactly twice. Those defensive woes have contributed to Wolfsburg making their worst four-game Bundesliga start since they also picked up just two points back in 2001/02!
That season, fans had to wait until the eighth league game to witness a victory, but it did come at the Volkswagen Arena, and coincidentally was followed up with one over Cologne. The Wolves have actually only lost one of their last seven home league games (W3, D3), so they might still grind out a result even if they’re not hitting top speed.
Cologne’s 0-0 draw with Stuttgart (August 28) was their first goalless stalemate in 44 matches since Steffen Baumgart took over as manager, and on a luckless afternoon they also lost three players to injury. Short of defenders as a result, Baumgart will have to cobble together a backline to deal with the threat of a Wolfsburg side they’ve only beaten once in the last four H2Hs (D1, L2).
Even when at full strength, the Billy Goats’ defence has wobbled when playing away from home as they haven’t kept a Bundesliga away clean sheet in six attempts (W2, D2, L2) which doesn’t bode well for their attempt to repeat last season’s 3-2 victory here. However, as they’ve scored in each of their last five league road trips, they should still pose an attacking threat.
Players to watch: Lukas Nmecha (WOL) opened the scoring in four of his last five goalscoring appearances, including against Cologne last term. Visiting Florian Kainz has two goal contributions (G1, A1) and a yellow card to his name in the Bundesliga this season.
Hot stat: None of Cologne’s league games this term featured scoring before the 35th minute.
