Anderlecht Silkeborg prediction 2022-09-08

Anderlecht vs Silkeborg prediction: EUROPE: Europa Conference League – Group Stage betting tips on match 2022-09-07 16:45.
After failing to negotiate the UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL) qualifiers last term, Anderlecht scraped through on penalties against Young Boys Bern last month and can now look forward to European group fixtures for the first time since 2018/19. Winless in three league games (D1, L2), the former UEFA Cup and UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup champions might appreciate returning to continental competition to give them a lift.

However, they haven’t won a European home group game since beating Mainz in 2016/17 (D2, L5) so the Anderlecht faithful have had little here to really get excited about in Europe. It’s also almost a month since they’ve seen their side winning at home without needing extra-time or penalties in competitive action (D1, L2), so they’ll celebrate eagerly if they can uphold their perfect home record against Danish opponents (W3).

Silkeborg hadn’t even earned promotion to Denmark’s top tier when Anderlecht won the latest of their European trophies back in 1983, and starting their first European campaign since 2001/02, this could be a baptism of fire for the one-time Danish Superliga champions. At least manager Kent Nielsen has big-game experience as a member of Denmark’s 1992 European Championship-winning side.

Like their hosts, Silkeborg enter this match in poor form (D1, L2) and with each of their last four competitive away games being decided ‘to nil’ (W1, L3), their chances of winning could rely on them netting first. Fans with a long enough memory may fondly remember a previous trip to Belgium though, when they beat Sporting Charleroi 4-2 in 1996 en route to the UEFA Intertoto Cup title!

Players to watch: Fábio Silva has scored six goals for Anderlecht this term, but can take a while to get going, as none of those came before the 25th minute. In contrast, Silkeborg’s Tonni Adamsen’s two goals this term came inside the opening 15 minutes.

Hot stat: There’s been an average of eight corners per game across Anderlecht’s European fixtures this term.
