Schalke Bochum prediction 2022-09-10

Schalke vs Bochum prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2022-09-09 16:30.
Schalke seek their first victory of the Bundesliga campaign (D3, L2), but a failure to register it here would finally give opponents Bochum (L5) at least their first point. This is actually the fourth time across their last six top-flight campaigns that Schalke have failed to win any of their first five games, but they’ll hope to post a resurgent performance here, against an opponent that they’ve beaten in five straight home H2Hs.

It’ll take a bit more time before serious comparisons are made to Schalke’s infamous 2020/21 season which began with 14 winless Bundesliga games on route to relegation. The Royal Blues ended that season with 86 conceded goals – amongst the worst-ever tallies in the Bundesliga – so their eight conceded goals already across their opening two home matches is certainly cause for concern.

If Schalke’s situation sounds bad, spare a thought for Bochum who are now part of an exclusive club of just 14 sides in Bundesliga history to lose the first five rounds. Although it’s early in the season, it appears as though the spectre of relegation already looms for Bochum unless they can begin to turn their form around, though with no side posting a worse goal difference than their -12 at this stage since Karlsruher back in 1963/64, another knockout blow in the form of Schalke could be on the way.

There have been slight signs of life from the visitors, with Bochum at least holding four of their five opponents to a half-time draw before eventually falling to defeat. They have also scored five goals in their three competitive away games this term, yet with Bochum also facing the most shots on target in the Bundesliga (50), their front line may be left with a bit too much to do to keep their side in the match.

Players to watch: Marius Bülter has scored three of Schalke’s five league goals this season, yet none served to put his side in the lead. As for Bochum, Simon Zoller has scored three goals within 20 minutes across Bochum’s three competitive away games this term.

Hot streak: Schalke have failed to win any of their last 19 Saturday 18:30 kick-offs (German time: D5, L14).
