Millwall Blackpool prediction 2022-09-17

Millwall vs Blackpool prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2022-09-16 14:00.
It was heartbreak yet again for Millwall in midweek, as they fell to a fourth defeat without reply across their last five games courtesy of a 2-0 loss against London rivals QPR. Despite that defeat, boss Gary Rowett suggested that the game was even and that his players now need to “step up” after making “silly mistakes”, but with fresh injury concerns for Millwall skipper Shaun Hutchinson, that could be easier said than done.

With two home league defeats within a three-game run (W1) for the first time in over a year, any continuation of that wobbling form may see the fear factor so commonly associated with The Den dissipate somewhat. It would be foolish to underestimate the Lions at home though, as they’ve lost just three times here in the league since their defeat against the now-promoted Nottingham Forest in their first home league game of this calendar year (W10, D2).

Times are tough for Blackpool, whose only victory across the last five rounds (D2, L2) came with the help of a goal-line technology error. Perhaps the most difficult result to take in that run was the most recent, with a 3-0 defeat to promoted Rotherham being the worst kind of defeat for boss Michael Appleton, who simply wanted his side to "just show a bit of personality”.

Even so, Blackpool don’t necessarily like to be beside the seaside as they’re unbeaten in three of their last four away games (W2, D1) which has helped contribute to the Tangerines picking up 64% of their points on the road. Bouncing back to win in London likely won’t be easy though, as Blackpool have conceded at least twice in their last four visits to Millwall (L4), whilst winning just one away H2H in this century.

Players to watch: Millwall defender Charlie Cresswell has contributed to his side’s only two goals across their last five games (G1, A1). As for Blackpool, Theo Corbeanu was the opening team scorer in two of his last three away appearances.

Hot stat: Each of Millwall’s five home league defeats across the last 12 months came without reply.
