Dortmund Schalke prediction 2022-09-17

Dortmund vs Schalke prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2022-09-16 13:30.
Itā€™s now back-to-back defeats for Borussia Dortmund, who let a 1-0 lead slip into a 2-1 defeat against Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) in midweek. Dortmund can perhaps take heart from the fact both those defeats came on the road, and they now return to Signal Iduna Park where they had won the two games prior ā€˜to nilā€™.

If Dortmund thought a return home would simply mean a return to winning ways, then they may find fierce rivals Schalke have something to say about that. ā€˜The mother of all derbiesā€™ as this battle is commonly known in Germany, has historically been an evenly-fought contest in the Bundesliga (DOR: W36, D30, L32), yet with Dortmund losing their last two Bundesliga home games against promoted sides, there may be some nerves that their bitter rivals could produce a shock result that stretches that run to three for the first time ever!

Just one win in the Bundesliga so far this season (D3, L2) would indicate Schalkeā€™s chances of upsetting the apple cart on their rivalsā€™ turf are few and far between, though that victory did come in their last outing against Bochum (3-1). With that win, Schalke already have a taste for a derby victory, and with another win here, the Royal Blues could collect consecutive top-flight triumphs for the first time since November 2019.

Having already received the backing of club sporting director Peter KnƤbel, Schalke boss Frank Kramer can now breathe a little easier as he bids to oversee his first-ever managerial victory against Dortmund after losing his prior four managerial H2Hs. But perhaps it would be generous to suggest ending that run is plausible here given Schalke are currently in the midst of a club record 31-game winless Bundesliga away run!

Players to watch: Jude Bellingham netted a first-half strike for Dortmund in the UCL, but his four career Bundesliga goals have all come after the break. Meanwhile, Schalkeā€™s Sebastian Polter has enjoyed facing Dortmund of late, netting an impressive four goals in his last three personal H2Hs.

Hot stat: All eight goals seen during the second half of Dortmundā€™s Bundesliga games this season have come after the 75th minute.
