Union Berlin Wolfsburg prediction 2022-09-18

Union Berlin vs Wolfsburg prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2022-09-17 13:30.
Union Berlin lost their second European match in as many games last time out despite boss Urs Fischer’s assurances in the aftermath that his men “controlled the game”, but that result may well hint that Union have once again given European action a much lower priority. It appears to be paying dividends, just like last season, as Union are enjoying their finest ever Bundesliga start as they head into this round top of the table, and one of only two sides yet to be defeated (W4, D2)!

That’s quite an achievement for a side that are playing just their fourth top-flight campaign in club history. Fischer’s Iron Ones now have a chance to make some more history here after a 1-0 victory at Cologne in the last round extended their club record unbeaten run in the Bundesliga to 13 games (W10, D3), and they could well do so having never lost a top-flight home H2H (W1, D2).

Without any European commitments, Wolfsburg will arrive in Berlin with fresher legs and no distractions other than Bundesliga matters for now. The often toothless Wolves recorded their first league win of the season last weekend at European competitors Frankfurt, with that 1-0 victory perhaps inspiring belief that they can record a historic first league win at this venue.

Weathering the early storm may be key for Wolfsburg, with 80% of their conceded goals coming before half-time. Any early wounds could prove fatal though, especially when considering that Wolfsburg have failed to score in their last four away league games when playing against a side that topped the Bundesliga ahead of the round, while losing 13 of the last 15 encounters.

Players to watch: Union’s Sheraldo Becker finds himself joint top of the Bundesliga scoring charts ahead of the round, with three of his five goals serving as match winners. As for Wolfsburg, Lukas Nmecha has scored the match opener in his last four scoring appearances, but failed to win three (W1, D1, L2).

Hot streak: Each of Union’s last eight Bundesliga games saw the half-time result mirrored come full-time (W/W: 6, D/D: 2).
