Serbia Sweden prediction 2022-09-24

Serbia vs Sweden prediction: EUROPE: UEFA Nations League – League B betting tips on match 2022-09-23 18:45.
After manager Dragan Stojković described 20-year-old Stefan Mitrović as ā€œthe future of Serbian footballā€, Serbia fans will hope to see him make his international bow here against Sweden. The Red Star Belgrade forward has received his first senior call-up for two crucial UEFA Nations League (UNL) games against Sweden and Norway, with the Eagles needing to win both to have any chance of gaining promotion to the top tier.

Serbia currently sit in second place in Group B4 after picking up two wins from their opening four games (D1, L1), but with a win so desperately craved here, Stojković will have to make do without suspended goalkeeper Predrag Rajković and the injured Nikola Milenković. The Serbia boss can take confidence from a strong record on home soil though, where Serbia have lost just three of their last ten (W6, D1), scoring at least three goals in each victory!

Opponents Sweden are in all kinds of bother, as after opening their UNL campaign with a win over Slovenia, they have lost three successive matches. That leaves Sweden just one point above the relegation zone, prompting manager Janne Andersson to demand that his players ā€œtake on even more responsibilityā€ with the incentive of League B safety should they win here and Slovenia lose to group-topping Norway.

The Blue and Yellows may only be further dispirited by a shocking recent away record that has seen them win just twice in 11 matches, excluding Euro 2020 (L9). Alarmingly, Sweden failed to even score in five of those fixtures, as they did on their only previous trip to Serbia (L 2-0) leaving Sweden with just one win in three H2H meetings (L2), raising doubts over whether they can secure a survival-sealing win here.

Players to watch: Serbiaā€™s Aleksandar Mitrović has scored ten times in 13 UNL games, while his six Fulham goals this season have all arrived after the half-hour mark. Meanwhile, Swedenā€™s Alexander Isak has netted three times in his last four club appearances, each time his sideā€™s first of the game, but he has never scored in the UNL.

Hot stat: Sweden have not lost four games in a row since August – October 1979.
