Coventry Middlesbrough prediction 2022-10-01

Coventry vs Middlesbrough prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2022-09-30 14:00.
Following a dismal seven-game start to the Championship season (D3, L4), Coventry City prop up the rest of the table with no immediate escape route in sight as a yawning seven-point gap separates them from the pack. A pair of draws across the last two rounds has given the Sky Blues a boost, yet notching that first win is essential if they’re to challenge for another top-half finish.

The CBS Arena has had its fair share of problems this term with an unplayable pitch earlier in the campaign contributing to Coventry’s stop-start season. However Wasps, a rugby union team who are also their landlords, have filed for administration, casting doubt over the future of Coventry’s home at a time in which they cannot buy a win here for love nor money, in fact they’ve not even managed to secure a lead in any of their last four outings here (L4).

There’s no shortage of drama where Middlesbrough are concerned either, with the international break bringing with it a sizeable amount of speculation around Chris Wilder’s future as manager. His odds to take the Bournemouth job were as short as 1/5 during the week, yet the club maintain that it’s been “business as usual” at Rockcliffe Park.

Broken promises around the number of new transfers and a lack of cutting edge displayed by Middlesbrough have led to the bad mood around the club, not least as the touted promotion contenders occupy a relegation spot. Boro are yet to win an away league game this season (D1, L3) but with Wilder boasting a 100% win-rate against Coventry (W3), that could be about to change.

Players to watch: Coventry’s Swedish international Viktor Gyökeres has scored important goals in two of their three league draws this term and opened the scoring in this fixture last season. As for Middlesbrough, four of Rodrigo Muniz’s last seven goals for any club have been headers, yet three of them came in defeats!

Hot stat: Coventry have failed to win nine of their last 12 league meetings with Middlesbrough (D4, L5), yet all the wins did come at home.
