Hull Wigan prediction 2022-10-05

Hull vs Wigan prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2022-10-04 18:45.
The downhill trend continued for Hull City after they were defeated 2-0 by Luton Town on Friday night, just hours after sacking ex-manager Shota Arveladze. The Tigers now sit just one point outside the Championship relegation zone, and despite suffering their fifth successive defeat Hull’s interim head coach Andy Dawson was bullish post-match, insisting his players have the “belief and quality to turn things around”.

The temporary manager has serious problems to address, as Hull have already conceded 23 goals this season – the division’s worst defensive record at the conclusion of matchday 11. It might be an impotency up the other end of the field that worries fans here however, with the Tigers even failing to muster a shot on target against Luton as part of a current goalless four-game run.

The visit of Wigan to the MKM Stadium is unlikely to provide solace, given the Latics have won four successive Championship away fixtures for the first time since 2015. Their most recent 2-0 victory at Rotherham on Saturday certainly pleased manager Leam Richardson, who stated that “there are no negatives at the moment”.

That triumph left Wigan just two points off the top six and fans are beginning to dream of a return to the Premier League for the first time in a decade. Those supporters will have mixed memories of Hull though, as despite an 8-0 win over the Tigers in 2020 being their biggest ever league victory, they have lost three of the last five league meetings between the two sides (W1, D1).

Key battle: Hull captain Lewie Coyle has kept just one clean sheet in five previous meetings with Wigan (W2, D1, L2), although he has been on the winning side in all three of his encounters against Wigan striker Will Keane. The frontman has netted four times for the Latics this season and lost just one of his last 27 goalscoring appearances (W23, D3).

Hot stat: Hull, who have lost five consecutive matches, last lost six games in a row back in July 2020 – a run that included the 8-0 hammering to Wigan and led to their relegation from the Championship.
