Rotherham Millwall prediction 2022-10-05

Rotherham vs Millwall prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2022-10-04 18:45.
Life after Paul Warne began in the worst possible way for Rotherham United last time out, falling to a disappointing 2-0 home defeat to Wigan Athletic. Caretaker manager Richard Wood admitted it’s been an “emotionally tough week” afterwards, with rumours running rampant that Exeter City boss Matt Taylor has been offered the chance to take over.

A run of just one win from their last five games has halted some of the Millers early season momentum, with the competitive nature of the Championship leaving them four points away from both the play-offs and the relegation zone after 11 rounds. Victory in this clash could be crucial to rebuilding morale, but Rotherham lost both H2Hs last time they were in the Championship and didn’t even manage to find the net.

Travelling Millwall could prove timely visitors though, as the Lions have failed to win an away game in the Championship since March, a dismal run that was extended to 11 games (D5, L6) last time out against Blackburn (L 2-1). A win for either side certainly looks likely given that Gary Rowett’s men have drawn just one of their 11 games so far this season, a run that includes six losses, with only Huddersfield Town being beaten more often in the Championship this season.

A visit to the New York Stadium may prove useful respite for the travel-sick Lions, having lost just two of their last eight trips to Rotherham (W3, D3). But key to securing a positive result may be keeping the back door shut as they’ve conceded two goals in each of their last five Championship road trips (D1, L4).

Players to watch: Rotherham forward Chiedozie Ogbene has netted five times already this season, with all of his strikes arriving in the first half. Looking to eclipse him will be Millwall’s Benik Afobe, who has a positive record against the Millers, scoring four times in five appearances (W3, D2).

Hot stat: Only one of the last seven H2Hs have seen both sides score, a run stretching back as far as 2006.
