Sevilla Dortmund prediction 2022-10-05

Sevilla vs Dortmund prediction: EUROPE: Champions League – Group Stage betting tips on match 2022-10-04 19:00.
Following a disappointing 2-0 league defeat away to Atlético Madrid, Sevilla’s players don’t have long to prepare for their next assignment amidst some severe managerial turmoil, with some weekend reports suggesting the board have quietly begun canvassing options to replace embattled manager Julen Lopetegui. It’s a distraction that threatens to aggravate their struggling UEFA Champions League (UCL) campaign, where they are currently on the verge of being dumped out of successive group stages for the first time ever.

Two failures to score in this UCL group stage (D1, L1) sit alongside their worst start to a league season since returning to the top flight in 2001, and whilst Sevilla have had some tough opposition visit Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán this season (including Manchester City and Barcelona), a winless slate of four games at home across all competitions (D1, L3) is concerning.

Borussia Dortmund have also lost to group leaders Manchester City (1-2) in this group stage but still hold an advantage over Sevilla courtesy of their strong 3-0 win against Copenhagen. They’ll also take comfort in knowing they overcame their Spanish opponents with an aggregate 5-4 win in the 2020/21 Round of 16. Another success here would send them one step closer to progressing for the fourth time in five seasons, avenging 2021/22’s dismal failure.

Their 3-2 weekend Bundesliga away loss at Cologne also suggested two things: their average of 3.71 total goals per UEFA game since the start of the 2020/21 Round of 16 tie with Sevilla may increase even further, whilst their current three consecutive away losses across all competitions means they cannot take Sevilla’s woes for granted.

Players to watch: Sevilla midfielder Thomas Delaney could offer some insights into the club he represented more than 60 times before moving to Spain, whilst Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham has scored goals in his last three non-Bundesliga appearances for his club and is reportedly being asked to agree to a €150m release clause for a contract extension!

Hot stat: All but one of Sevilla’s last eight UEFA fixtures have seen one or neither team score.
