Coventry Burnley prediction 2022-10-08

Coventry vs Burnley prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2022-10-07 14:00.
Despite almost 150 miles separating Coventry and Burnley there’s far more than just points on the line here, with bad-blood between these sides after a summer transfer saga in which Coventry boss Mark Robins admitted he “wasn’t happy” about Burnley manager Vincent Kompany’s comments to the press in his pursuit of Callum O’Hare.

In a strange coincidence, O’Hare hasn’t featured all season and likely won’t feature here due to injury with his absence hitting Coventry hard as they sit bottom of the Championship table (W1, D4, L4). Although this perhaps doesn’t tell the full story for a side who are now four unbeaten in the league (W1, D3) after they were unable to play at home when the season started due to an unplayable pitch, and who collected their first win of the season here against Middlesbrough in their last home outing (1-0).

Burnley found themselves surrendering a 1-0 advantage once again, conceding another late goal as Stoke denied the Clarets all three points in midweek (1-1). For the fifth time this season Burnley were left with just a point despite leading and it’s now five-straight games in which Kompany’s side have gone 1-0 ahead only to concede the next goal, recovering to win just one (D4).

Couple that dismal record with the fact Burnley fans are being charged over a whopping 30% more for a ticket than Middlesbrough fans who attended the Coventry Building Society Arena the weekend prior, and tensions are high. Burnley, who boast a nine-match unbeaten Championship run (W3, D6), might arrive confident but having conceded exactly once in their last five away league games, you get the sense they’ll need to score at least two goals to take maximum points back up the M6.

Players to watch: Coventry so often look to Viktor Gyökeres for inspiration, with the Swede’s three goals this term each serving as a team opener. On loan at Coventry last season, Burnley loanee Ian Maatsen further fuelled tensions between the sides by stating he had joined a “bigger club” for this campaign and has assists in his last two outings.

Hot stat: Burnley have lost a Championship-high eight points after the 75th minute this season.
