The start to the season has been anything but nice to Nice, who languish in the bottom half of Ligue 1 just a single point ahead of the relegation zone after nine rounds. The UEFA Europa Conference League proved a good respite for Lucien Favre’s men, as Nicolas Pépé’s first European goal for the club earned a win over Slovacko. That result ended a run of three games without victory (D1, L2) although they put up a spirited effort away to PSG when last in league action (L 2-1).

Despite losing the last meeting in April, there’s plenty of room for positivity for Bruno Irles’ men, as they’ve never suffered back-to-back league defeats in the history of this fixture. One thing that could hold Troyes back is their tendency to fall behind this season though, conceding the opening goal seven times already, which could prove problematic if the Nice forward line is firing on all cylinders.
Players to watch: Nice forward Gaëtan Laborde has scored twice in his career against Troyes, and netted his side’s final goal in each of his last five goalscoring appearances. At the other end, Troyes’ Mama Baldé has enjoyed tremendous success in his meetings with Nice, scoring three times across two personal H2H wins.
