Rennes Lyon prediction 2022-10-16

Rennes vs Lyon prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2022-10-15 13:00.
Since losing two of their opening four games this season, an in-form Rennes have really come into their own and now hold a ten-game unbeaten run in all competitions (W7, D3), which was capped off by an impressive 1-0 win against Dynamo Kyiv in midweek European action. Rennes’ recent rise to prominence has been built on the foundations of some superb goalscoring form, with the French side scoring in all but one of their last 26 matches.

Travelling teams have struggled to deal with Rennes’ tempo at Roazhon Park in Ligue 1, with Bruno Génésio’s men winning 18 of their last 23 top-flight home games (L5). Génésio will hope to keep the good times rolling as he welcomes his former club Lyon through the doors for the 100th Ligue 1 meeting between the sides, after guiding Rennes to a league double over their visitors last season.

Lyon, who despite utterly contrasting form, only trail Rennes by four league points, have seen most of their early season leg work undone by a torrid recent run. While they remained unbeaten through their opening five games of this campaign (W4, D1), Lyon have gone on to lose their way completely and have failed to pick up a win since (D1, L4).

The Kids have struggled on the road particularly, with only a single draw in their four away outings making them the least imposing travelling side in the league. This awful streak triggered a change in management with Laurent Blanc’s hiring after Peter Bosz’s firing, and perhaps Blanc will be quick to remind his new squad that last season's loss at Rennes was their first in seven visits (W3, D3).

Players to watch: Rennes defender Adrien Truffert will be looking for his first clean sheet against Lyon, although scoring twice in this fixture last season may encourage him to venture forward. Meanwhile, Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette will be looking for another early strike, with his four league goals this season all arriving before half-time.

Hot stat: Rennes have seen the most second-half goals this Ligue 1 season with 23.
