Millwall Watford prediction 2022-10-19

Millwall vs Watford prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2022-10-18 19:00.
Back-to-back wins have reignited Millwall’s hopes of reaching the Championship play-offs for the first time since the division’s restructure. Gary Rowett’s men sit just two points adrift of the top six ahead of this round, recovering from a miserable start to the season that saw them lose four of their first six outings.

Entering the Lions’ Den hasn’t been an easy task for Millwall’s visitors of late either, as Millwall have lost just four times on home soil this calendar year (W13, D2), so a further assault up the table certainly looks on the cards. Despite that, Rowett’s side have failed to score in each of their last three league meetings with Watford (D1, L2), making this potentially one of their toughest assignments of the season to date.

The Hornets make the short trip into the capital after ending a two-match losing streak to beat then table-topping Norwich City at the weekend. An early penalty miss failed to destabilise Slaven Bilić’s men, with the newly-appointed manager wanting his side to use that performance as a ‘blueprint’ going forward after a turbulent start to the season, which has left them sitting in midtable on the same points total as their opponents.

Watford have enjoyed facing Millwall in recent years, losing just three of the last 19 meetings with the Lions (W12, D4), so their chances of building on their weekend victory appear strong here. Away form has been an issue since their relegation from the Premier League though, winning just once in seven road trips this term (D4, L2), so that’s an obstacle they’ll need to clear to snatch victory here.

Players to watch: Millwall ace Zian Flemming has scored five times in his last five appearances, three of which were his side’s opener. Up against him will be Watford winger Ismaïla Sarr, the scorer of the decisive penalty the last time the Hornets won this fixture.

Hot stat: Only two of the last nine H2Hs have seen both sides score.
