Clermont Brest prediction 2022-10-23

Clermont vs Brest prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2022-10-22 13:00.
October’s been good for Clermont, who are on a three-match unbeaten Ligue 1 run (W2, D1) although they couldn’t capitalise on playing for over 70 minutes against ten men at Monaco (D 1-1) last time out. Close to the European qualification places (W5, D2, L4), they don’t seem to be suffering from ‘second-season syndrome’ and the good news kept coming this month when key defender Alidu Seidu signed a two-year contract extension.

They’ve lost just one of their last four home league fixtures (W3), scoring first in all four of those games, twice within the opening ten minutes. Another fast start might be just what’s required as Clermont bid for their first home H2H win over Brest since May 2016 (D3, L1), particularly as they haven’t scored at home in the league this term between the 16th minute and half-time.

Ligue 1’s bottom side Brest (W1, D3, L7) haven’t won a league game since late August and with four teams going down this season, the fact they’re already starting to lose touch with safety will be a serious worry. That ominous situation has already led the board to sack Michel Der Zakarian during a tumultuous week that saw four Ligue 1 managers lose their jobs!

If they’re to improve their position, Brest must stem the flow of goals they’re letting in, as they’ve conceded an average of 2.27 per league game this term, although they have fared slightly better away from home (2.17 goals per game). While their sole league win this term came on the road, since then the Pirates have been sailing in choppy waters on their travels (D1, L3).

Players to watch: Clermont’s Grejohn Kyei has opened the scoring in three of his last four goalscoring outings, while JĂ©rĂ©my Le Douaron netted twice during Brest’s only league win this term and they’ve won his last four goalscoring appearances.

Hot stat: Clermont and Brest have conceded five penalties each in Ligue 1 this term – an average of 0.45 per game.
