West Ham vs Silkeborg prediction: EUROPE: Europa Conference League – Group Stage betting tips on match 2022-10-26 19:00.
A club record run of six successive victories in European football has helped West Ham already guarantee a top-two finish in Group B of the UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL). Four of those wins have come in the group stages, helping David Moyes’ side to top spot, and they now need just a point to maintain that position and secure their place in the knockout phase. With Jarrod Bowen becoming the club’s joint-top scorer in European competition with his goal in West Ham’s 2-1 win over Anderlecht in their last UECL match, Moyes will hope for more inspiration from Bowen to help his side secure top spot.
The Hammers’ form in Europe has dovetailed with an impressive run of three victories from their last five Premier League matches (D1, L1), with all of those wins picked up on home soil. The most recent of those, a 2-0 victory over Bournemouth on Monday, lifted West Ham into the top half of the table and led Moyes to claim “we’re clawing our way back” after a poor start to the campaign.
While the Hammers are looking to secure top spot, Silkeborg know a shock victory in London will be enough to see them qualify for the UECL preliminary knock-out round if Anderlecht slip up against FCSB in Group B’s other game. The Danes themselves dished out a pair of 5-0 drubbings to FCSB, meaning they sit in second place – an impressive achievement given they are competing in the group stage of a European competition for the first time.
One of their two defeats in Group B came against West Ham, losing 3-2 despite taking an early lead. Preparations for this re-match have not gone too well though, with Tobias Salquist sent off during a 3-2 defeat to Horsens in the league at the weekend. Manager Kent Nielsen felt his side “deserved one point” from that game, but they have now won just four of their 12 competitive away matches this season (D2, L6), keeping only three clean sheets in the process.
Players to watch: West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca scored a vital goal in the reverse fixture in Denmark and has now netted four times in six European appearances. Meanwhile, Sebastian Jorgensen is Silkeborg’s top scorer this season, netting twice in each of his last three games, and eight times in total.
Hot streak: West Ham have won five successive competitive games at London Stadium – the last time they secured six consecutive home victories in one season was back in January 1998.
