Lyon Lille prediction 2022-10-30

Lyon vs Lille prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2022-10-29 19:45.
Despite flying out the traps with four wins from their opening five Ligue 1 games, Lyon find themselves with fewer points after 12 games (17) than in seven of the eight seasons prior. Any wild ambitions of a title challenge after those five games were firmly halted by a six-match winless run (D1, L5), though a 2-1 victory against Montpellier last time out at least got them back to winning ways.

Lyon face a battle just to get back amongst Europe’s elite for the first time since their semi-final appearance of 2019/20. A ten-point gap to the third and final UEFA Champions League place after just 12 rounds is concerning, and considering Lyon are winless in their last 11 top-flight matches against Lille, that gap could be about to stretch this weekend.

Just two places above Lyon coming into the weekend, but five points better off, Lille are flying of late on the back of four wins from their last five games. Edging Monaco out of a 4-3 thriller last weekend not only secured a third-straight win, but also epitomised Lille’s new-found consistency after their first nine games offered alternating results (W4, D1, L4).

A clinical nature in front of goal is largely behind that improvement, with Lille’s 25 goals scored in their opening 12 league matches this season their highest tally at this stage of the competition since 1981/82 (26). That hot streak plays part of a 15-match scoring run, which only Monaco and Inter Milan can better across Europe’s top-five leagues, and having not failed to score in an away H2H since 2015, you would back that run to continue here.

Players to watch: Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette has seen his three Ligue 1 home goals this season arrive inside the first half. In contrast, Lille’s Jonathan David has seen three of his last four away league goals come after the 75th minute.

Hot stat: Lille are the only Ligue 1 side to have seen at least one goal in the first half of every league game this season.
