Royale Union SG Union Berlin prediction 2022-11-03

Royale Union SG vs Union Berlin prediction: EUROPE: Europa League – Group Stage betting tips on match 2022-11-02 20:00.
While they’re both debutants in the UEFA Europa League (UEL), Royale Union and Union Berlin have given a good account of themselves on the continent so far. Especially the hosts who are already guaranteed to win Group D after a near-perfect group stage campaign (W4, D1), whilst a 2-1 victory over RFC Seraing at the weekend maintained their place inside the top four of Belgium’s First Division and extended their unbeaten competitive run to an impressive 11 matches (W9, D2).

Despite this game being a dead rubber for Royale Union, they’ll still be motivated to get a positive result and keep that undefeated streak going. Home fans heading to Stade Joseph Marien might expect plenty of goalmouth action, especially as their team have scored 2+ goals in their last 11 matches since a 2-1 defeat to Genk in early September, though they did only manage one goal in a slender win against Union on matchday one.

That defeat started what is one of the more unique streaks in this season’s competition, as each one of Union Berlin’s five UEL group stage matches have now finished by the same 1-0 scoreline. Crucially for them, the last three ended in their favour and they now come into this final game two points clear of third place Braga, meaning either a victory or the Portuguese side failing to beat bottom side Malmö will secure their place as group runners up.

Urs Fischer’s men are probably going to need a win of their own though given without-a-point Malmö look unlikely to stop Braga on their own patch. The German side’s recent impressive 2-1 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach will have boosted their confidence to get the job done, although it remains to be seen how much they’ll be impacted by the ban on travelling fans as punishment from UEFA for fan trouble in their clash with Malmö.

Key battle: Midfielder Teddy Teuma scored in each of Royale’s last two matches, extending his record to 15 wins from his last 15 competitive goalscoring appearances. Out to stop him will be Union defender Robin Knoche, who’s also scored three goals this season, with each arriving in the second half and the last two winners in this competition.

Hot streak: Royale Union are undefeated in five successive home competitive matches, despite conceding first in three of those (W3, D2).
