Sheriff Tiraspol Omonia prediction 2022-11-03

Sheriff Tiraspol vs Omonia prediction: EUROPE: Europa League – Group Stage betting tips on match 2022-11-02 17:45.
Both Sheriff Tiraspol and Omonia Nicosia will be making their exits from the UEFA Europa League after this contest, but there will still be a spot in the UEFA Europa Conference League knockouts up for grabs when they meet at the Stadionul Zimbru in Chișinău, Moldova. Sheriff sit firmly in pole position in that sense, knowing any result other than a defeat by three goals or more would secure third place and a transfer into UEFA’s third-tier club competition.

A 2-1 Moldova Super Liga victory against Dacia Buiucani sets them up to pursue their first home victory of this group stage after two 0-2 defeats. All three of their losses suffered at their temporary home in Chișinău have been in European competition, however, so strong domestic form does not appear to carry over, further illustrated by their indifferent UEL group stage record as a ‘host’ on W4, D5, L5.

Omonia’s task is certainly not as straightforward as Sheriff’s, knowing they need to win by at least three clear goals to snatch third spot on the final matchday. They didn’t rack up such a margin in their last domestic outing, but Omonia’s 2-0 league win against Anorthosis did at least end their six-match losing run in all competitions to build some confidence ahead of this decisive fixture.

The early stages of that poor run cost Neil Lennon his job, and after losing his first game in charge, it now seems Yannick Ferrera has steadied the ship somewhat with that win on Monday. A stern challenge now awaits him on the road, though, as Omonia are yet to take three points on the road in UEFA group stage football (D3, L4) which doesn’t bode well considering their chances of claiming third spot hinge on a victory.

Players to watch: Sheriff’s Iyayi Atiemwen spent last season on loan at Omonia, and scored from the spot against his former employers in the reverse fixture. On the other hand, Omonia’s Bruno Felipe spent last season at Sheriff and has seen five of his six goals this term arrive beyond the 40th minute.

Hot stat: Sheriff have only scored more than once in one of their last 15 games as the designated home side in the UEL.
