AC Ajaccio Strasbourg prediction 2022-11-05

AC Ajaccio vs Strasbourg prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2022-11-04 16:00.
Ajaccio’s eye-catching 2-1 success against Marseille in early October is now a distant memory, as they’ve failed to win their following three Ligue 1 games (D1, L2), culminating in a 1-0 defeat at the hands of fellow newcomers Auxerre last weekend. They now embark upon their 500th Ligue 1 game by welcoming another relegation candidate in Strasbourg, in what even at this early stage in the season appears to be a crucial ‘six-pointer’.

A home game is unlikely to provide much comfort for the AcĂ©istes however, who are still waiting for their first win at the François-Coty Stadium (D1, L5) this season, with Ajaccio’s five-successive home defeats the longest run among the top-five European leagues! A lack of quality in the final third is one of the reasons behind that losing streak, with Olivier Pantaloni’s men scoring a league-low two home goals so far this term.

It took two months for Strasbourg to finally claim their first win in Ligue 1 against Angers on matchday ten after a poor start to the 2022/23 campaign (D5, L4), but the joy was short-lived. ‘Le Racing’ failed to win their next three league matches (D2, L1), although the last two of those games did see them recover from a two-goal deficit to claim 2-2 draws, prompting coach Julien StĂ©phan to praise his team's “mentality” after the Marseille game on Saturday.

Securing a positive result here would relieve some of the pressure on Stéphan who could become the sixth coach to be dismissed in Ligue 1 since the beginning of October! A meeting with Ajaccio may be a golden opportunity to avoid that scenario, as Strasbourg are unbeaten in ten Ligue 1 H2Hs (W4, D6), although their last victory here in the top-flight dates back to 1972 (D4 since).

Players to watch: Ajaccio will hope Bevic Moussiti-Oko can find the net given they avoided defeat in the last 13 league games he scored in (W8, D5). This trip will bring back good memories to Strasbourg’s Kevin Gameiro given his only away career hat-trick in Ligue 1 was scored here in Ajaccio back in 2011.

Hot stat: Just one of the previous 28 H2Hs have seen the away side emerge victorious (Home: W14, D13, L1).
