Sheffield Utd Rotherham prediction 2022-11-08

Sheffield Utd vs Rotherham prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2022-11-07 19:45.
After a superb 5-2 win over table-topping Burnley made it four Championship games unbeaten (W3, D1), Sheffield United must be raring to get back into action against Rotherham United in this midweek Yorkshire derby. Paul Heckingbottom’s third-placed side know a victory will take them to the Championship summit and they should be confident of picking up where they left off against Burnley as they’re unbeaten in home H2Hs against Rotherham since September 1980 (W7, D2).

The Blades kept clean sheets in the last five of those H2Hs (W5) so a repeat would be welcomed given they’ve conceded twice before half-time in each of their last three home league games (W1, D2)! The promotion hopefuls had struggled here prior to that win over Burnley (D3, L1), so will be relieved to have ended their longest winless home Championship run since February 2011.

Visiting Rotherham know all about struggling for form following five league games without a win (D1, L4) after Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Norwich City. One of Matt Taylor’s two victories since taking over in October did come in a Yorkshire derby though (2-1 vs Huddersfield Town), so he’ll hope the big occasion can lift his players and arrest their slide towards the relegation zone.

Having hosted Norwich at the weekend, his players certainly can’t use the excuse of a long journey contributing to a poor performance as it’s a mere 20-mile round trip for this fixture! Well prepared or not, the omens aren’t good as they try to win here for the first time in more than 30 years on the back of just one win from their last 15 Championship away games (D7, L7).

Players to watch: Iliman Ndiaye has netted Sheffield United’s first goal in each of their last three games but has never scored against another Yorkshire club. Conversely, Georgie Kelly’s last two goals for Rotherham came after the hour-mark in Yorkshire derbies!

Hot streak: Rotherham have lost all six league matches in which they conceded first this term.
