Crystal Palace Tottenham prediction 2023-01-04

Crystal Palace vs Tottenham prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2023-01-03 20:00.
By condemning Bournemouth to a home loss in front of the new Cherries ownership, Crystal Palace crept closer to the top half in their seventh consecutive Premier League (PL) game without a draw (W4, L3). After their 3-0 Boxing Day loss at home to Fulham prior, there currently appears little consistency to their game, which only adds further intrigue to a H2H matchup that last season saw the home side of the day win 3-0 on both occasions!

Whilst Palace have collected four of their six PL wins this season at Selhurst Park, an opponent of Tottenham’s class has proven too difficult to conquer even at home. In fact, their PL winless season record of D3, L4 against clubs ending the weekend above them in the standings is even worse at home (D1, L3), suggesting a repeat of that aforementioned home win over Tottenham last PL season appears a bridge too far.

Tottenham’s players were booed off the ground by their home fans after a frustrating 2-0 loss to Aston Villa that has seen them hand fourth place to Manchester United, courtesy of two failures to conquer mid-table opponents since the World Cup break (D1, L1). The most alarming aspect of that result came after the full time whistle, when manager Antonio Conte conceded that “maybe fifth is the best” his team can achieve this season.

That was just Spurs’ second PL loss as pre-match favourites this season (W8, D2), which suggests the humiliating fall to Aston Villa could be more of an anomaly than anything else. One concerning flaw for Conte’s side that continues to gather strength is their poor starts and it’s perhaps no coincidence their win rate has recently dropped after eight consecutive PL matches without a half-time lead.

Players to watch: Palace could benefit handsomely from another goal from midfielder Eberechi Eze, who has now found the net in three of their last five PL wins. Spurs have a potentially game-changing midfielder of their own in the form of Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, who is the only Spurs player other than topscorer Harry Kane to find the net in multiple PL away matches this season.

Hot streak: Palace have won their last three competitive fixtures when scoring before half-time and lost their last four when failing to do so.
