Lyon Strasbourg prediction 2023-01-14

Lyon vs Strasbourg prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2023-01-13 20:00.
Lyon’s hopes that the new year would bring a change to their league fortunes hasn’t come to fruition so far, with a 0-0 draw against Nantes last time out consolidating their New Year's Day defeat against Clermont. Sandwiched between those results was a win in the Coupe de France, but manager Laurent Blanc is unlikely to be satisfied considering Lyon are well off the pace for the European spots in eighth place.

A return to the Parc Olympique Lyonnais might inspire the Kids as it’s where they’ve won 17 of their 25 points, but securing only one win in their last five home league matches may cast doubt on their credentials here (D2, L2). A date with Strasbourg might just be what Lyon need though as they’ve gone unbeaten in the last 22 home league H2Hs (W16, D6) spanning back to the 1979/80 campaign!

Strasbourg’s struggles continued into 2023, with back-to-back losses to start the year seeing them rooted in the relegation zone and eliminated from the Coupe de France. That saw the end of manager Julien Stéphan’s time at the club, with Mathieu Le Scornet coming in as caretaker and guiding his side to a 2-2 draw against Lens in his first assignment.

That did extend the Blue-and-Whites’ winless run in the league to eight (D4, L4) though, and they’re now only propped up off the foot of the table by Angers. A measly one win on the road all season might not offer much hope here (D3, L4), but even so, Strasbourg have shown their threat by scoring in all but one of their away assignments this season.

Players to watch: Lyon’s Karl Toko Ekambi looks forward to his meetings with Strasbourg, having amassed seven goal contributions in seven league H2Hs (G6, A1). Habib Diallo will hope to be the man of the moment here however, and has scored his side’s opener with six of his seven goals this season.

Hot stat: Prior to the weekend, no Ligue 1 team had conceded more first-half goals than Strasbourg’s 21.
