AS Roma Fiorentina prediction 2023-01-15

AS Roma vs Fiorentina prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2023-01-14 19:45.
Despite not having a shot on goal until the 87th minute, Roma came back from 2-0 down to rescue a 2-2 draw against defending champions AC Milan in their last Serie A (SA) outing. Fans might be happy about their positive start to 2023 (W2, D1) after the Giallorossi followed that draw up with a narrow 1-0 Coppa Italia victory over second-tier Genoa on Thursday, despite José Mourinho labelling it as ‘the worst cup in Europe’.

Back on the bench for his first SA game of this year after serving another ban, Mourinho will be eager for his side to show more ruthlessness in front of goal in their pursuit of a European place. Roma have scored 2+ goals in only two of their eight home league matches this term (W4, D1, L3) with only four SA teams striking less on their own turf (eight) ahead of this round.

Finding goals has also been problematic for Fiorentina despite their positive three-game record in 2023 (W2, D1), as they followed up on 2-1 league victory against Sassuolo with a 1-0 win over Sampdoria in the Coppa Italia. Entering the round, Fiorentina were the joint-low SA scorers in the top nine alongside Roma, though they’ve at least managed 2+ goals in two of their last three league away outings (W2, L1).

Coach Vincenzo Italiano will be hoping for more of the same menace as he targets a finish in the European places for successive seasons. A trip to the capital might not be the ideal occasion for it however, as Fiorentina have lost eight of the last ten away league H2Hs, failing to score more than once seven times.

Players to watch: Roma’s Tammy Abraham scored just his fourth SA goal this season against Milan last Sunday but he enjoyed this fixture last season, registering two assists in a 3-1 win. Nicolás González was also decisive in the final minutes of Fiorentina’s last league match, converting a match-winning penalty – just like he did in the last H2H!

Hot stat: Roma have been ahead at half-time just four times this SA season but went on to win all four matches.
