Sevilla Cadiz CF prediction 2023-01-21

Sevilla vs Cadiz CF prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2023-01-20 20:00.
After a 2-1 defeat to Girona in their last La Liga (LL) outing saw Sevilla drop into the bottom three, they now face fellow-relegation threatened side Cádiz for a crucial week that also sees them play bottom-placed Elche. The last time Sevilla had fewer points than their current 15 after 17 games played was in 1999/00, the season they suffered their last top-flight relegation, so this all-Andalusian contest already has the feel of a relegation six-pointer.

A 1-0 Copa del Rey win over Alavés may provide momentary respite, but pressure has built around manager Jorge Sampaoli who has won just two league games during his latest spell in charge (D4, L4). A return to home comforts may not inspire either, with only bottom-placed Elche (two) taking fewer points at home than Sevilla’s six this LL campaign, which has perhaps fuelled reported planned protests against the club’s board.

This could be a tense encounter then, with a candescent Cádiz releasing a club statement asking for their last match to be restarted from the 81st minute onwards. That was the time on the clock when they conceded a goal, which stood but was adjudged to have been offside after the game had ended, in a 1-1 draw with Elche which ensured they remained in the clutches of the drop zone.

A lack of cutting edge on Cádiz’s travels has contributed to their lowly-position, as only Almería (4) have scored less away league goals than their five ahead of the round, meaning another solid defensive shift might be required after keeping three shutouts in their last six LL away outings (W2, D2, L2). Fans of the Pirates should look away now however, as they’ve never won a single contest when visiting Sevilla (D8, L14)!

Key battle: Ivan Rakitić may have scored only his first goal since April 2022 against Alavés, but his contributions in the two prior games (A2) saw him become the player with the second-most LL assists for Sevilla this century (38). Cádiz keeper Jeremías Ledesma might be sick of the sight of Rakitić considering he has never been on the winning side against him (D1, L2) with the midfielder also grabbing two assists during that time.

Hot streak: Each of Cádiz’s LL away goals this season has been netted by different scorers.
