Burnley vs Watford prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-02-13 20:00.
Vincent Kompany’s rampant Burnley side continue to make light work of the Championship, most recently securing their pride of Lancashire status with a convincing 3-0 win over Preston. Not only does their 17-point cushion to Middlesbrough in third show just how dominant the table-topping Clarets have been, but they’re breaking all sorts of records as they go, with that Preston victory marking their tenth league win in a row, matching a club record that dates back to 1913!
Another win against Watford would not only break that record outright, but it would also see the Clarets become the first side in Championship history to win 11 successive league games. With half an eye on Reading’s record 106 point Championship haul of 2005/06, there’ll be no let-up from Burnley here, though they will be acutely aware that Watford are one of just two sides to have beaten them in the league this season (W20, D8).
Watford certainly won’t be in any mood to roll over though, with the Hornets harbouring promotion hopes of their own. A four-match winless league run (D3, L1) has certainly dented aspirations of an instant return to the top-flight, and having trailed at half-time in three of those games, manager Slaven Bilić will be fully aware that slow starts are his side’s kryptonite at the moment.
A trip to East Lancashire perhaps wouldn’t be Bilić’s first choice to address their current struggles given Watford have won on just one of their last 13 visits to Turf Moor (D5, L7). The Hornets may be in safe hands for this trip though, with Bilić unbeaten in his four prior personal managerial H2Hs against Burnley (W2, D2).
Players to watch: Nathan Tella is on fire of late, netting all five of Burnley’s goals across their last two games. Watford will hope João Pedro can have a similar impact on his return from injury, with the Hornets talisman netting the game winner in his last three scoring appearances.
Hot streak: Burnley have scored in a joint club record 27 league games.
