Salernitana Monza prediction 2023-02-26

Salernitana vs Monza prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2023-02-25 14:00.
A few days in charge weren’t enough for new Salernitana coach Paulo Sousa, who witnessed his side fall to a third consecutive Serie A (SA) defeat without scoring in his managerial debut for the club as they lost 2-0 against Lazio last Sunday. However, the Portuguese coach didn’t take the defeat lying down and gathered his players on the pitch after the final whistle, demanding a better attitude.

He’ll hope that has the desired effect as Salernitana start this round only four points above the relegation zone, with only bottom-side Cremonese collecting less than their four points from the last ten SA outings (W1, D1, L8). Sousa now has another home game to turn the tide, but with their last home victory arriving on Oct 22 (D2, L4), Salernitana might need their twelfth man more than ever as they prepare to welcome Monza.

The visitors had some goalscoring issues of their own last time out, after failing to net at home for the first time under Raffaele Palladino’s stewardship (W9, D4, L6), in a 1-0 defeat to Milan. However, that marked Monza’s only SA defeat of 2023, with their director Adriano Galliani praising Palladino since the match calling him ’the right choice for the team’.

Whilst that defeat ended a four-match unbeaten league run (W2, D2), Monza’s pre-season goal of finishing tenth is still very much in the picture and they'll be trying to continue their perfect recent H2H record of three wins, whilst netting exactly three goals in each contest. The visitors should arrive confident too, having shown some strong traveling form by winning their last three away SA matches, including an impressive 2-0 victory against Juventus.

Players to watch: Tonny Vilhena scored the last Salernitana winner against another newly-promoted team Lecce at the end of January, with two of his three SA strikes this term arriving inside the opening five minutes of the second-half. Gianluca Caprari could be key for Monza, as three of his four league goals have arrived in away victories.

Hot stat: Salernitana and Monza are the only teams that haven’t scored a headed goal this SA season.
