Augsburg Werder Bremen prediction 2023-03-04

Augsburg vs Werder Bremen prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2023-03-03 14:30.
Augsburg “missed a big chance” according to manager Enrico Maaßen as they were beaten 2-0 by Bundesliga relegation rivals Hertha Berlin last time out, but despite that disappointment, they retain a five-point gap to the drop zone after a decent restart to the season (W3, L4). Encouragingly, each defeat in that sequence was immediately followed by a home victory, which should serve as a good omen ahead of the visit of newly-promoted Werder Bremen.

A return to the WWK Arena should serve Augsburg well then, as they go in pursuit of a fourth consecutive Bundesliga victory on their own turf for the first time since November 2014. Yet achieving that would be some feat given their struggles in front of goal here which has seen them score a league-low ten home goals, and with just three of those arriving before half-time, it seems unlikely the Augsburg faithful will see much from their side during the first half.

The last five H2Hs on this ground have averaged 3.8 goals per game though, so another goal-filled match could be on the agenda, especially as Werder secured a 3-0 victory over Bochum in their last league outing. That result launched them into the top half of the Bundesliga table and manager Ole Werner proudly stated in the aftermath that his side were “very good at controlling the game”, and that’s something he’ll be looking to swiftly instill into his side on the road, as they’ve won just one of their last five road trips in the league (L4).

During that sequence, Werder conceded a whopping 17 goals, part of an overall return of 41 during the season as a whole, with only bottom-two Bochum and Schalke letting in more. Improving on that could be crucial if Werner’s men are to keep their faint European hopes alive, but history is certainly against them as they’ve won just three of their ten top-flight visits to Augsburg (D1, L6).

Players to watch: Scorer of the winner in this season’s reverse fixture (1-0), Augsburg’s Ermedin Demirović has seen five of his seven Bundesliga goals this season arrive after half-time. The Bundesliga’s leading marksman, Werder’s Niclas Füllkrug, is also a fan of scoring after the break as he’s now netted five times beyond the 84th minute this season.

Hot streak: Augsburg’s last four Bundesliga home games have all been decided by a 1-0 scoreline (W3, L1).
