Wolfsburg Eintracht Frankfurt prediction 2023-03-05

Wolfsburg vs Eintracht Frankfurt prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2023-03-04 16:30.
After making a blistering start to 2023 with 11 unanswered goals across a pair of victories, Wolfsburg then slipped to a rotten five-game winless run in domestic action which saw them dumped out of the DFB-Pokal and perhaps more importantly, lose ground in the race for the European spots. A recent resurgent 2-0 win against Cologne was “deserved” according to boss Niko Kovač and it not only kept them in the hunt for a top-six finish, but also ended a run of almost four hours without scoring.

More goals won’t come as a surprise at the Volkswagen Arena though, with Wolfsburg’s three games here since the Bundesliga restart producing an incredible total of five per match on average. Granted, seven of those goals were conceded by Wolfsburg across their last two home outings, though a run of 20 straight meetings against Eintracht Frankfurt without firing a blank should provide hope they can counteract a leaky back line (W11, D5, L4).

Frankfurt head coach Oliver Glasner knows this opposition well having managed Wolfsburg between 2019-2021, all whilst posting the club’s second-best points per game average in the Bundesliga (1.62). There’s no time for sentiment though as Glasner has never registered a top-flight win over his former employers (D1, L2), something he will need to do if they are to build upon their five-point cushion over the visitors.

The Eagles remain on course for European qualification despite their wobbling league form (W2, D1, L2) and will hope to secure another crack at the Champions League with their current quest looking set to end at the round of 16. Picking up points on the road will likely be crucial to that goal, yet Frankfurt are currently enduring the joint-longest run of winless away league games under Glasner’s tenure (D3, L2), somewhat increasing the pressure on the recent overachievers.

Players to watch: Yannick Gerhardt’s fourth minute opener sent Wolfsburg on their way to victory last time out, meaning he now has three goal contributions across their only three wins in 2023 (G1, A2). Frankfurt’s Daichi Kamada isn’t usually far away from the goals either, with only FIFA’s best player of 2022, Lionel Messi (6) scoring more goals from outside of the box this season than Kamada’s five ahead of the weekend.

Hot stat: Four of Kovač’s five personal H2Hs with Frankfurt saw the winning side boast a 3+ goal margin of victory (W4, L1).
