Slovenia San Marino prediction 2023-03-26

Slovenia vs San Marino prediction: EUROPE: Euro – Qualification betting tips on match 2023-03-25 16:00.
Slovenia got their Euro 2024 qualification bid off to the best possible start with a 2-1 comeback win against Kazakhstan on Thursday, registering their first competitive win on the road since September 2021. Thursday’s win extended Slovenia’s unbeaten streak to seven matches (W4, D3), proving they could be a real threat in a competitive-looking Group H as they gun for their first appearance at the European Championships since 2000.

A return to the Stožice Stadium offers Matjaž Kek’s men a great opportunity to continue their fine form, having only lost three of their last 22 matches on home soil (W12, D7). FIFA’s 62nd ranked side will therefore take on lowly San Marino as overwhelming favourites here, hoping to start a European Championship qualification campaign with two consecutive wins, something they have never done before.

It’s no wonder you’ll find San Marino propping up the FIFA rankings in last place at 211th in the world as they still await a first ever competitive win on the international circuit. Their Group H campaign for Euro 2024 qualification unsurprisingly began with their 76th loss in 77 outings (D1) in European Championship qualifiers, slumping to a 2-0 defeat against Northern Ireland last time out.

Considering no other UEFA nation has a smaller population than San Marino, it’s often slim picking for La Serenissima, especially up top where they’ve scored in only two of their last 16 matches. Still, that seems a touch better than their record against Slovenia, against whom they’ve lost their five H2Hs without ever finding the net whilst conceding 20 goals in the process!

Players to watch: Slovenia’s Žan Vipotnik came off to the bench to not only earn his first international cap against Kazakhstan, but also score the match winner, something he’s done in six of his last eight goalscoring outings at club-level this season. San Marino’s Lorenzo Lazzari also scored on his international debut, which was the last time his country found the net in their 1-1 draw with Saint Lucia back in November 2022!

Hot streak: There have been at least five bookings brandished in each of Slovenia’s last seven home matches.
