Chile vs Paraguay prediction: WORLD: Friendly International betting tips on match 2023-03-27 00:30.
It’s been more than one year since Chile last won an international (D2, L7), form that eventually cost Martín Lasarte his job as manager after they failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup. At least the man who replaced him last May, Eduardo Berizzo, should be clued up on their next opponents Paraguay though, as he managed them between 2019 and 2021!

Having failed to win any of his first seven games in charge of Chile (D2, L5), Berizzo has plenty of motivation to beat his former employers. Given there hasn’t been a draw between these two sides in Chile since November 1985 (Chile: W8, L4) in addition to La Roja not drawing any of their last six home games (W2, L4), a result seems possible when he takes charge on home soil for the first time.

As for Paraguay, they’ve fared a little better recently, but are on a three-match winless run themselves (D1, L2) as they also look to put a failed World Cup qualification effort behind them. After announcing last month they would join Argentina, Chile and Uruguay in a joint bid to host the 2030 World Cup, immediate attention will turn to preparing for the 2026 qualification cycle and the 2024 Copa América.

Improving their travelling form must be included in those preparations as Paraguay haven’t won any of their last ten matches on foreign soil against fellow South American sides (D1, L9). That run began after their 2-0 Copa Ámerica win over Chile in June 2021, but ending it will require more attacking bite as they have failed to score in any of their last three games outside of Paraguay (D1, L2).

Players to watch: Chile’s record scorer Alexis Sánchez (50 goals) has netted three times across his last two appearances for Marseille. Also in strong recent form, Paraguay’s Kaku has contributed three assists across his last three club appearances while nobody in this squad has scored more international goals than his five.

Hot streak: Each of the last seven H2Hs (Chile: W4, L3) were won by the side that scored first.
