Birmingham Blackburn prediction 2023-04-01

Birmingham vs Blackburn prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-03-31 14:00.
After a Valentine’s Day loss to Cardiff sparked a four-game losing run in the Championship, the only thing Birmingham City were getting romantic with was the relegation zone as the pressure mounted on John Eustace’s men. The Blues have since alleviated the blues though, having avoided defeat in three of their last four league matches (W2, D1, L1), meaning they’ll return from the international break in high spirits.

Their win over QPR last time out personified their survival instincts, as they held onto a lead they took in the third minute to grind out a 1-0 win despite their opposition's onslaught. The St. Andrew's Stadium faithful will be hoping they can bear witness to their team’s encouraging displays more regularly, since the Blues have lost six of their last eight home matches (W2).

Visitors Blackburn Rovers were responsible for one of those defeats, having walked away with a 1-0 win in their FA Cup fourth-round replay that went to extra-time. This will therefore be the fourth meeting between these two sides already this season, and after Blackburn’s 2-1 win in the reverse league fixture back in October, they’ll be looking to secure a third consecutive league-double over Birmingham.

Rovers’ impressive FA Cup run came to an end at the quarter-finals stage after a 3-2 defeat to Sheffield United just before the international break, but they’ve been in hot form in the Championship. Losing one of their last ten league matches (W5, D4) has catapulted them back into the coveted play-off spots, although that loss did come in their last away league assignment, a 3-2 defeat to Stoke City.

Players to watch: Tahith Chong’s winner vs QPR was the fourth of his six goals for Birmingham that’s served as his side’s opener, but it was Blackburn’s Sam Gallagher who netted the match opener in the last league H2H, and he’ll be confident of once again making an impact since five of his last seven goals have come on the road.

Hot stat: Neither Birmingham (D2, L15) or Blackburn (D1, L13) have managed to win a Championship match this season after conceding the opening goal!
