West Brom Millwall prediction 2023-04-01

West Brom vs Millwall prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-03-31 14:00.
As far as golden opportunities to close the gap on the top-six go, they don’t come much bigger than this one for West Brom, who welcome sixth-place Millwall knowing they can cut the gap to just two points with a victory. Not only that, but the Baggies have also played a game less than some of their fellow play-off chasers and whilst they know victory here would see them become a prime candidate, they’ll also be acutely aware of the consequences defeat could have.

Defeat is something West Brom haven’t tasted in league action at the Hawthorns since October, though, winning an incredible nine of their ten Championship home games since (D1). Remarkably, Carlos Corberán’s side conceded just one goal across those ten games, a record no side comes close to matching and it undoubtedly underpins West Brom’s remarkable rise since Corberán took over.

Millwall will certainly be trying to play the role of party poopers as far as West Brom’s phenomenal home run goes, but having succumbed to relegation battling Huddersfield 1-0 prior to the international break, few know what to expect from the Lions. However, as far as away games go, you do know what to expect from Millwall, and that’s a stern test given they’ve won four of their last six Championship road trips (D1, L1)!

Interestingly, all five of those games to be won or lost were decided by a single-goal margin, hinting at another tight affair here. In keeping with that, Millwall’s win in the reverse H2H came via the same margin of victory (2-1), now affording the Lions the chance to secure a first league double over West Brom since 2001/02, a season Millwall coincidentally secured a play-off spot and while the Baggies were promoted automatically!

Players to watch: There’s no place like home for Daryl Dike who has scored three of West Brom’s last four home league goals, all of which arrived in the opening half-hour. Preferring to strike even earlier, Millwall’s Zian Flemming has seen his last two away league goals arrive inside the opening ten minutes.

Hot streak: None of Carlos Corberán’s four managerial H2Hs against Millwall (W2, L2) have seen both teams score.
