Waalwijk vs Groningen prediction: NETHERLANDS: Eredivisie betting tips on match 2023-04-14 16:45.
RKC Waalwijk’s grumbling staff didn't have many positive things to say in last weekend's 5-1 loss against leader Feyenoord, but given how many other teams have suffered similar fates this season, it would have been quickly forgotten. After all, RKC has been having a great season and remains one of the major contenders for the last ticket for the European play-offs.
At home, three of RKC’s Eredivisie losses have been against the league’s top three clubs (W7, D3, L1 against the rest), so they should have little to fear when FC Groningen visit this weekend. When excluding the fixture against NEC Nijmegen (L 3-1), RKC have won all six other home matches against clubs in the bottom half, all but one coming with a multiple goal margin. Against the other two clubs joining Groningen in the relegation zone at the start of the round – Excelsior and Cambuur – they scored five times on each occasion!
FC Groningen are either going to have to manufacture or hope for a miracle to take their place in the Eredivisie next year. De Trots van het Noord has been playing continuously at the highest level since the turn of the century, but is hurtling towards bringing that period to an end with just 17 points from the first 28 rounds. There have been a lot of changes in both the staff and the selection in recent months, but they have not yet led to the desired result.
Groningen have lost their last five league games and have therefore not improved in terms of results under new management. The chance that Groningen can turn the tide this weekend doesn’t appear very great, seeing as how their last eight away games were all lost. For their last victory on foreign soil, one has to go back to September last year, when relegation rivals Cambuur were defeated 0-1.
Players to watch: Daleho Irandust has accumulated four assists from his eight appearances for Groningen after the winter break. Mats Seuntjens has been playing for RKC only since the winter break, but he already has seven assists to his name for his new employer.
Hot stat: RKC have lost just one of their last 15 games against FC Groningen, whilst the last Groningen victory in Waalwijk dates back to 2005 when Uruguayan legend Luis Suárez was still playing for Groningen!
