Rennes Angers prediction 2023-04-30

Rennes vs Angers prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2023-04-29 13:00.
After their UEFA Europa League dreams were tarnished not so long ago, Rennes are now at risk of losing their way in their domestic chase for European football next season too. They’ve lost three of their last four Ligue 1 matches (W1), most recently going down 1-0 to ten-man Montpellier, a result which subsequently saw them drop out of the top five.

The Red and Blacks will be desperate to return home in the hope of refuelling their European charge, especially as they’ve secured more than double the amount of points on home turf (36) than they have away (17) this league season, after beating Reims 3-0 in their last home league match. The Roazhon Park faithful may be expecting yet another humdinger here too, considering it’s the only ground in the league yet to experience a Ligue 1 draw this season.

One side who won’t be experiencing any Ligue 1 action next season is Angers, whose race is finally run after a 2-1 defeat to league-leaders PSG last time out confirmed their inevitable relegation and put an end to their eight-season stint in the top-flight. Excluding the Covid affected 2019/20 campaign, this has been the joint-earliest confirmed relegation since the 2015/16 season (after matchday 32 – tied with Troyes), a real humiliating feat for a side who finished so comfortably in mid-table the season prior.

It’s going to be a long final six games for manager Alexandre Dujeux and company, especially those on the road where they are winless in their last 11 league matches (D1, L10), failing to get on the scoresheet in eight of those games. Their chances of consolation points here are made even more slim when they walk out to Rennes manager Bruno Génésio in the home dugout, considering Angers have only once won a H2H against a Génésio-managed side (D2, L8).

Players to watch: Amine Gouiri scored the match opener in Rennes’ 2-1 win in the reverse fixture, one of the six times in his last eight goalscoring outings he’s done so. Rennes will meet former old-boy Adrien Hunou, now sporting Angers colours, who’s scored 11 of his last 14 goals before half-time.

Hot stat: Only one of Rennes’ last nine Ligue 1 matches saw both teams score.
