Stuttgart Eintracht Frankfurt prediction 2023-05-03

Stuttgart vs Eintracht Frankfurt prediction: GERMANY: DFB Pokal betting tips on match 2023-05-02 18:45.
Still embroiled in a Bundesliga relegation battle, the DFB-Pokal provides Stuttgart with a welcome break from their league struggles. Strangely though, this semi-final clash perhaps comes at a good time, with Stuttgart now unbeaten in five-matches in all competitions (W3, D2) following Saturday’s survival-boosting 2-1 win against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

That run includes a 1-0 victory against second-tier NĂĽrnberg in the quarter-finals, which now allows them the chance to reach a DFB-Pokal final for the first time since 2012/13. With several big-hitters already out of the competition, this is a golden chance for Stuttgart to perhaps claim some silverware, and they have history on their side as they boast a 100% win rate against Eintracht Frankfurt in DFB-Pokal home H2Hs (W2).

Both of those games ended 3-2 to Stuttgart, and with Frankfurt arriving on the back of just one win since mid-February, you wouldn’t rule out their misery being extended here. Owing largely to that dismal run of form, Frankfurt find themselves five points adrift of the Bundesliga top six, which perhaps places added emphasis on snapping that streak here as the DFB-Pokal is now arguably their best route into Europe.

Being drawn away from home muddies the waters a little though, as Frankfurt haven’t won a competitive game on the road since early November (D4, L6 since). They did win 3-1 here when these two sides met in Bundesliga action back in September, but there’s no getting away from the fact that wretched travelling run may have created some seeds of doubt as to whether Frankfurt can secure a first DFB-Pokal final appearance since 2017/18, a season in which they won this competition.

Players to watch: Stuttgart will hope for a game-winning contribution from Tanguy Coulibaly like the one at the weekend, with his last three club goals arriving after the 70th minute. He may be trying to counteract Randal Kolo Muani’s impact, with the Frankfurt frontman opening the scoring inside 15 minutes in their last three DFB-Pokal games.

Hot streak: Frankfurt have conceded at least twice in seven successive competitive away games.
