Freiburg RB Leipzig prediction 2023-05-06

Freiburg vs RB Leipzig prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2023-05-05 13:30.
Just four days after Freiburg were thrashed 5-1 in their DFB-Pokal semi-final by RB Leipzig, the sides will meet once again. This time, there will be a crucial three Bundesliga points on offer for two sides chasing a UEFA Champions League qualification place. Freiburg hold a two-point advantage after three straight league wins and with four games now remaining, they’ve already accumulated more points than in any previous Bundesliga season (56).

But Tuesday’s hammering at the hands of the visitors would have quickly taken the gloss off of that particular achievement as it extended a dire run of eight winless H2Hs anywhere (D3, L5). However, in the Bundesliga at least, they’ve been hard to beat at home as only leaders Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich have overcome them in home league action this term (W9, D4).

Leipzig’s 1-0 win over Hoffenheim last weekend extended their gap to the sixth-placed team and continued their pattern of drawless league games stretching back to February 4th (W6, L5), leaving manager Marco Rose “delighted” with the “crucial” three points that he felt gave them momentum ahead of their cup and league double-header against Freiburg.

He could well have been right given the one-sided nature of Tuesday’s cup game and he’ll be hoping the momentum continues to build given the Red Bulls have won only one of their last four Bundesliga away games (L3). Extending a three-match unbeaten H2H run in Freiburg (W2, D1) would see Leipzig move above their adversaries in the table, so there’s every incentive for Rose’s side to make it two from two this week.

Players to watch: Freiburg’s Lucas Höler has made four goal contributions across his last three Bundesliga appearances (G2, A2) with both goals arriving after half-time. Opposing forward Timo Werner is in a similar vein of form after netting three of Leipzig’s last eight league goals, all three coming between the 20th and 60th minute.

Hot streak: Freiburg haven’t conceded a first-half Bundesliga goal since February 11th (HT: W4, D6).
